We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded £30,824.77 from the Department of Transport Inshore and Inland Rescue boat grant fund.
This fund has been able to support Maryport Rescue over the past few years, and for that the team have been extreemly grateful. Without this sort of funding, the organisation could have faced uncertain times and may have been in a position where we could have been unable to offer this truly required service to those in need.
This years application was placed in view of replacing the lifeboats engines and on board electronics suit given the boat has only just celebrated its 10th Birthday, having entered service here in Maryport in 2008.
The news that the panel voted in favour of supporting our application has warmed so many of the crew and supporters of the charity based organisation. The delightful news has secured the lifeboats future in the area for many years to come, especially now the team can update the on Board electronics package to the most modern technology that is available on the market today. This will assist in any service call that the team is turned out to, helping locate casualties and vessels more efficiently which will assist in returning those in need to shore in a more timely manor, while also reducing the time the crew have to spend at sea in what could be any weather.
